Frank Martin
Chief Executive Officer

"Our Performance Guarantee is at the core of this company," says WellSpring Chief Executive Officer Frank Martin. "It's not a gimmick. If we can't improve our customer's business, we don't want their money."

Frank founded WellSpring in 1994 with the mission to bring enterprise-class marketing power within reach of local retail business owners. As Research Director for R.L. Polk, he spearheaded the development of methods to optimize direct marketing: making it measurable, improving results, and eliminating unnecessary expenditures. And he realized that retail businesses could enjoy the same benefits. “Small businesses are the lifeblood and the character of our communities,” observes Frank. “Encore was created to accountably and measurably improve those businesses. It gives them an effective, affordable, automated tool for attracting and keeping more customers.”

Frank completed graduate studies at the University of Michigan in marketing and social psychology, focusing on consumer attitudes and buying behavior. He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife Catherine, and donates his time and energy to Meals on Wheels, Army Wounded Warriors, AFS student exchange programs, and Dale Carnegie training.

Mariela Romero
Vice President, Marketing

Generating interest, demand and recognition for WellSpring is Mariela Romero, our Vice President of Marketing. Mariela leads the Marketing Advisory Team - the people who guide your Encore program launch - and also directs the functioning of the Encore Studio. Together with Adrian, Mariela is responsible for all customer communication and branding initiatives.

Mariela is a certified small business coach and long-time marketing professional. Augmenting her degree in Business Administration, she has served as an entrepreneurial mentor for a number of retail and service oriented markets.

She puts all these skills to work at InfoLab. “We do more than simply provide a great service from a great company. We want customers to think of us as part of their team. When we put all our abilities and the full power of Encore to work for a customer, that customer just gets stronger and more competitive.”

Mariela spends much of her time serving as Economic Development Ambassador for her community of Canton, Michigan, which keeps her attuned to the evolving needs of small business. She shares her home with husband Lucio and their two children, Gianna and Lucio, Jr. Mariela is a blossoming photographer who also enjoys relaxing with a good book.

Craig Clark
President

Keeping the heart of WellSpring beating strong and steady is Craig Clark, President and Chief Operating Officer. By his keen business acumen and mastery of database marketing and strategy, Craig drives forward our mission of outstanding customer value.

Craig delivers that value with more than 20 years of database marketing experience, and has applied his expertise for a number of Fortune 500 companies. Craig has founded 10 businesses himself, generating a knowledge base from which our customers benefit every day. In addition to his marketing and management talents, Craig is the author of a software package that has grossed over 3 million in sales. And he is a central force in fostering WellSpring’s company culture, known for its personal regard, fertile creativity and matchless customer service.

With a vivid sense of responsibility to family, company and community, Craig is active in a number of local organizations, in particular as director and actor with his church theater group. He also devotes his time to mentoring and sports coaching. Alisa, Craig’s wife, is a talented artist and author, and together they’re raising three equally gifted children: Emily, AJ and Zachary.

Oliver J. Wendt, Jr.
Vice President, Applied Technologies & Information Services

Oliver’s been immersed in information technology for over ten years, designing and managing corporate networks, datacenters and IT systems for a number of business sectors. Here at WellSpring, Oliver directs our Applied Technologies and Information Services, ensuring that every customer’s marketing campaign is correctly structured, timed and executed. It’s a responsibility in which he takes great satisfaction.

With his daughter Emily, Oliver lives in the rolling hills near Jackson, Michigan. There he spends his free time outdoors with friends and family: summer BBQ’s are a favorite, and they also enjoy camping, swimming and boating.  An avid sportsman, Oliver coaches high school football, and enjoys online gaming and playing the guitar.

Denise Ruffing
Marketing Advisor

Denise brings a diversity of expertise – and an amazing voice – to her responsibilities as Marketing Advisor. Denise ensures that each customer receives the insight and attention they deserve, and that their programs are running smoothly and effectively. They all benefit from Denise’s deep knowledge, and from her quiet confidence that comes from more than 20 years of customer service experience – in a number of markets – for both businesses and consumers.

As a native of Michigan, Denise experiences the outdoors through a wide spectrum of activities. She is an accomplished equestrian and horse trainer who loves travel, photography, camping and gardening. At the same time she’s just as comfortable at a downtown theater production, gallery opening or fine restaurant. Denise also engages in volunteer work, cooking and web design.

Teri Laeder
Marketing Advisor

Teri comes to InfoLab with unquenchable enthusiasm, drive, and four years of professional customer service experience. Working toward her BS in engineering technology gave her an appreciation for the importance of details, and our customers can be confident that nothing gets past Teri’s vigilance. She also has a rare ability to assume the customer’s perspective, and focus our resources toward their interests.

Teri’s shares her Ann Arbor home with boyfriend Naji and their cat Babe. She’s a fanatical volleyball enthusiast on any surface, enjoys the local mountain biking scene, and loves boating, swimming, water skiing, knee boarding, tubing: any activity that has water as its medium.

Brian Miles
Developer, Applied Technologies & Information Systems

The youngest member of the WellSpring team brings a fresh perspective to customers’ online presence. Brian Miles positions and executes online marketing strategies to generate website traffic and help WellSpring’s clients grow online.

Brian’s approach is relentless. “You just shouldn’t get stuck continuing to do something that doesn’t work with today’s analytics. Our approach to online marketing is iterative: we will establish a baseline with best practices and begin gathering data from that foundation; we will create a plan to intelligently analyze that information and calibrate our execution accordingly; we will continue to better understand the market; and we will succeed.”

Brian graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Economics and English. He has since worked on providing online solutions for clients including the United Nations, non-profit organizations around the country, and many small businesses. Brian lives in Ann Arbor, where he fiercely follows his beloved Michigan Wolverines and reads poetry.
